Absorbs 9 tampons worth of flow or five pads. Perfect for super heavy days.

Hi, I’m the Heavy High Waisted with an Extended Gusset. If I could, I would have called myself The Heavy Heavy High Waisted. I’m the exact same style as your favorite Heavy High Waisted Period. but with one big difference - I have an extended absorbent gusset that goes all the way from the top of the front to the top of the back. In other words, my absorbent panel is maxed out to as far as you can take it, so you can have even more confidence in going leak-free. I’m perfect for those first few heavy days when you might be back-flowing, front-flowing, or everywhere-flowing. It’s okay. We’ve all been there. I’m super soft, made of comfy cotton, and here to give you the super safe feeling that we all want on our heavy days.

When do wear: on those days when you need all out protection.

How to take care of your Period.

Rinse for a few seconds.

Either hand wash and hang dry, or add to the laundry pile.

Regular wash, no bleach.

Tumble dry low or hang dry.

Do not dry clean.

Each pair of Period. underwear can hold up to 10 tablespoons, or 8-10 tampons, worth of blood.

Check out our absorbency test video here.

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

Message from a Coral Reef: Hi! Thank you for using non disposable products. It may feel like a small gesture - but it’s not. I’m sick of getting tampons and pads getting caught up in my beautiful branches and you’re helping to keep that trash out of my home. Just one pair of Period means that 5 pads/9 tampons are never used or thrown away. Thank you! Next time you swim by me, stop and say hi.

A great concept, technology is just not there

I don't know for sure if it's just my period is not normal, but I definitely need more/higher front coverage. And my flow definitely does not allow for a period underwear for all day use. There was a lot of blood after a 6 hour day, and it was everywhere and on everything. If you have a nice light controlled flow they probably work fine, though they do have a baggy diaper feel. For my stubborn drawn out spotting, the other period pants work great, but for a real heavy gushing flow I still need to count on pads that I can change out every couple hours. The main leak point seems to be the seams and edging, once the the blood hits that it travels all over the product and all the clothes outside the product.

    Great for overnight

These a bit bulky compared to Period.'s other styles, understandably. They definitely make me feel covered and clean overnight even during my heavy flow. Waistband is a bit snugger than the sporty stretch but still remained comfortable enough during bloating. I would definitely only wear these to bed because of the bulk (hence the 4 stars) but will definitely purchase again. The fit, quality, and price point of Period. panties can't be beat. I was using a substantially more expensive brand before this, and they weren't bad but for the price I would have liked more durability. Period. checks all the boxes.

Love the comfort and the ability to hold period blood

I love these. Wore them all day on first day of period. I didn't have a super heavy flow but still impressed. Only downside is I can't see how much blood has been absorbed in the panties but very comfy and effective!

Full protection but doesn't keep me dry

I tend to have very heavy flows that go off in many different directions so I needed underwear like this to keep me protected from the front to the back. It keeps me mostly clean, again, heavy flow so I do have to change often. The biggest issue, the underwear doesn't stay dry. I won't notice it until I go to the bathroom and I have no choice but to change because I don't want to pull back up 'wet' underwear.

I'll have to buy more just to cover the need for me to change so often.
