1 pair absorbs 9 tampons of flow

Super absorbent. Built for heavy days.

Absorbs 9 tampons worth of flow or five pads.

Hi! I’m super-super-super absorbent and designed to handle the heaviest days of a period. I’m made of soft, comfy organic cotton and have a four-layer padded towel absorbency that holds your flow. I have a wicking layer on top, so I can absorb the blood super fast with no wetness. You will feel padding, but frankly, on those heavy days, feeling secure, safe, and leak proof is a pretty great feeling, alongside being so comfy and cozy. Warning: after you use me once, you will look at tampons and disposable pads and pretend you don’t know them. Be cold. They deserve it.

When to wear: on your heaviest days. Also great for postpartum and perimenopause.

How to take care of your Period.

Rinse for a few seconds.

Either hand wash and hang dry, or add to the laundry pile.

Regular wash, no bleach.

Tumble dry low or hang dry.

Do not dry clean.

None, zero, nada, zilch. We are proud to be one of the few period underwear brands that do not use any toxins in our products because who wants chemicals near the most sensitive part of their body? Not us. Or you.

Each pair of Period. underwear can hold up to 9 tampons worth of blood.

Check out our absorbency test video here.

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

Message from a Coral Reef: Hi! Thank you for using non disposable products. It may feel like a small gesture - but it’s not. I’m sick of getting tampons and pads getting caught up in my beautiful branches and you’re helping to keep that trash out of my home. Just one pair of Period means that 5 pads/9 tampons are never used or thrown away. Thank you! Next time you swim by me, stop and say hi.

    Not A Fan

I have five pairs, three of the medium glow sporty and two of these organic cotton. I’m so bummed because I love organic cotton and these are super absorbent but if you see the reviews about the waistband unraveling, HEED THE WARNING. This is after 4months of having these and the waistband is completely broken and the other pair is unraveled. Just stick to the other pairs, because I love my other pairs! Just don’t spend your money on these :(

Elastic unravels after a few months

So wanted to love these! Unfortunately I’ve only had them for a few months and the elastic is completely falling apart! I have never once put them in the dryer so this is only from washing. Super disappointed because they are otherwise comfortable and functional.

Long lasting, comfortable, functional, affordable, organic cotton

This is my favorite brand for period underwear! I’ve been using 3 pairs of these almost exclusively for a little over a year now, every month. So they’ve been washed dozens of times and they are still holding up really well. It feels good knowing the gusset is organic cotton with no weird chemicals. I’ve found that this style can be a bit bulky so I usually just wear looser pants or jeans and they are so comfortable. I’ve never dealt with any leaks. I need to change them every 12 hours at least, or they can get pretty swampy and stinky, but no worse than using a regular pad. I rinse with hot water and throw in the wash and they’re good as new. If you let the discharge dry onto the fabric it can be hard to scrub off so it’s best to just rinse them as soon as you take them off.

    Love… but…

I love these underwear. They don’t feel heavy and hot… I just wish the protection area was a little longer in the back. As a bigger girl… I need a little coverage a little farther! These would be daily wearers for my period and just “off days” if they had a little more protection in the back!
