1 pair absorbs 9 tampons of flow
Absorbs 9 tampons worth of flow or five pads. Perfect for super heavy days.

Hi, I’m the Heavy High Waisted with an Extended Gusset. If I could, I would have called myself The Heavy Heavy High Waisted. I’m the exact same style as your favorite Heavy High Waisted Period. but with one big difference - I have an extended absorbent gusset that goes all the way from the top of the front to the top of the back. In other words, my absorbent panel is maxed out to as far as you can take it, so you can have even more confidence in going leak-free. I’m perfect for those first few heavy days when you might be back-flowing, front-flowing, or everywhere-flowing. It’s okay. We’ve all been there. I’m super soft, made of comfy cotton, and here to give you the super safe feeling that we all want on our heavy days.

When to wear: on those days when you need all out protection.

Trying to do period math? Click here to work out how many pairs you need for your period according to your Flow Threshold.

This style is intended for postpartum use and is very supportive in the lower abdomen area. if you want a more relaxed fit, we recommend sizing up.

You can see our size chart here.

Our Fabrics

Body: 95% Organic Cotton with 5% Spandex Jersey

Absorbent Layer: 100% Polyester

Leak Resistant Layer: 100% Polyester PUL

How to take care of your Period.

Check out our absorbency test video here.

You can see the length of the absorbent panel here.

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

Message from a Coral Reef: Hi! Thank you for using non disposable products. It may feel like a small gesture - but it’s not. I’m sick of getting tampons and pads getting caught up in my beautiful branches and you’re helping to keep that trash out of my home. Just one pair of Period means that 5 pads/9 tampons are never used or thrown away. Thank you! Next time you swim by me, stop and say hi.

Huge jump in size from L to XL

While I will say I love the extra coverage of the rear liner on these the size jump from L to XL is crazy. I previously purchased L but after gaining 20lbs they were snug so this order I sized up to the XL and they are literally hanging off around the crotch and leg holes. I have used only this brand for the last few years and normally I love it but it was super disappointing to order the next size up only to find out it is so much bigger

    Great Coverage

I love the extra coverage on these for overnight! My period isn’t particularly heavy overnight but overnight pads never reach high enough for where my flow reaches (basically my tailbone!). I used to wear tampons overnight but became scared of the health risks. It was a relief to wear these and not worry. I originally ordered a size medium, but it was quite large (and much larger than the size medium in another style). I emailed customer service and they were amazing!! They sent me a smaller size right away. I think they are aware that there are some sizing issues. Other than that I’m very pleased! They do have a bit of a “diaper” feel but I personally don’t care for overnight!!

    Comfortable, Breathable, Highly Absorbent!

I’m 5’6” and fluctuate between 130 and 140lbs. I ordered 10 pairs of these in Medium, including some of the organic cotton sleep underwear, and the organic cotton bikini. I was nervous that they’d leak quickly and/or feel too hot.

I’m very happy to report that unlike traditional pads, these are highly breathable, and very comfortable to wear! The material is not hot or itchy on my skin (speaking as someone who gets hot easily). The underwear lines don’t show through my pants, so that’s a plus. And most importantly (unlike tampons), these are highly absorbent!

My flow is heavy on the first two days. For those two days, I had to switch underwear halfway through the day to feel comfortable. The underwear never actually leaked, just started to feel heavy and I got nervous. I was able to wear one pair of the organic Sleeper underwear each night without any leakage. On the 3rd day, I was able to wear one pair during the day, one pair at night, no leakage. And for days 4-7 I’ve been able to wear one pair for a whole day and night, no leakage, no heaviness. Of course everyone’s flow is different, but this worked really well for me. It has been easier and more comfortable than dealing with pads or tampons, and obviously in the long run it’s a lot cheaper, and better for the environment! Very happy, thank you Period!

This order was very poorly packaged. The items were over stuffed into a poly mailing bag. So, my shipment arrived with the bag busted open and the contents inside were covered in dirt. Which made for a very disappointing ordering experience, especially considering the cost of the order.

These are life savers for those heavy or overnight flows. The absorbant pad part goes from one end to the other so it's got extremely good coverage. I recommend these for sleeping as the long pad will be able to absorb any blood that leaks on your butt or crotch depending on if you're a back or stomach sleeper.
