1 pair absorbs 9 tampons of flow
Absorbs 9 tampons worth of flow or five pads. Perfect for super heavy days.

Hi, I’m the Heavy High Waisted with an Extended Gusset. If I could, I would have called myself The Heavy Heavy High Waisted. I’m the exact same style as your favorite Heavy High Waisted Period. but with one big difference - I have an extended absorbent gusset that goes all the way from the top of the front to the top of the back. In other words, my absorbent panel is maxed out to as far as you can take it, so you can have even more confidence in going leak-free. I’m perfect for those first few heavy days when you might be back-flowing, front-flowing, or everywhere-flowing. It’s okay. We’ve all been there. I’m super soft, made of comfy cotton, and here to give you the super safe feeling that we all want on our heavy days.

When do wear: on those days when you need all out protection.

Trying to do period math? Click here to work out how many pairs you need for your period according to your Flow Threshold.

This style is intended for postpartum use and is very supportive in the lower abdomen area. if you want a more relaxed fit, we recommend sizing up.

You can see our size chart here.

Our Fabrics

Body: 95% Organic Cotton with 5% Spandex Jersey

Absorbent Layer: 100% Polyester

Leak Resistant Layer: 100% Polyester PUL

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

Message from a Coral Reef: Hi! Thank you for using non disposable products. It may feel like a small gesture - but it’s not. I’m sick of getting tampons and pads getting caught up in my beautiful branches and you’re helping to keep that trash out of my home. Just one pair of Period means that 5 pads/9 tampons are never used or thrown away. Thank you! Next time you swim by me, stop and say hi.

Huge jump in size from L to XL

While I will say I love the extra coverage of the rear liner on these the size jump from L to XL is crazy. I previously purchased L but after gaining 20lbs they were snug so this order I sized up to the XL and they are literally hanging off around the crotch and leg holes. I have used only this brand for the last few years and normally I love it but it was super disappointing to order the next size up only to find out it is so much bigger

    Never going back!

No leaks. I used to change tampons every 1.5 hours (to show how heavy my periods are). Switched to the cup and I didn’t like the mess and I felt like it messed up my insides because of the suction. Switched to the disc. I love the disc for mess free period sex but it dumps when you pee so there would always be a little bit of blood that got on my underwear. Also I felt like my insides got angry at the beginning of wearing it. Lol. I bought period underwear from amazon but didn’t like that it wasn’t cotton. I decided I would take the plunge and try just period underwear. I wanted to have organic cotton underwear because I was disgusted by toxins in tampons etc. I also pee when I sneeze. I wanted something I would wear everyday period or no period. I wanted something that fit my body but wasn’t too bulky. I went with the extra coverage high waisted. They were too high for me so I’ll be ordering the bikini this time. The boxers are perfection. I love wearing them and a tshirt around the house because I don’t wanna wear pants! The extra coverage has protection up the front and back. The bikini doesn’t have protection up the front and back so I’m a little nervous but I doubt I’ll have trouble. I’ll wear my high waisted or boxer ones to sleep in when I’m on my period since they have better coverage. Oh and my husband isn’t bothered by messy sex. Lay down a towel! But if you want mess free sex the disc by flex is the way to go. I hope this helps! I am 175 pounds, 5’4”, size 16…

    leakage

i LOVE the idea of period underwear but unfortunately these leak because the gusset is SO wide that it causes the absorbent part to dip down and the lining to get wet. then it leaks because the lining isn't the absorbent part. i've tried to hard to love this underwear especially because it's affordable and cotton but i can only wear them to sleep in. the lining is also super thick which causes me a lot of irritation, ESPECIALLY if i shaved a few days prior.

    Surprisingly Absorbent!

I originally purchased a couple different styles of these underwear just for backup on my period for any leaks but I felt bold enough to try them out by themselves and they hold up pretty good. I wouldn’t try wearing them alone all throughout the night but I was able to go a good stretch of hours changing to another pair when it felt full. The material is thick which might make you a little sweaty but it’s breathable and still comfortable. I had issues with trying to get the right fit but the customer service was reliable. My one critique would be some troubleshooting with the cut of the seams lacking stretch so I had to size up. The size up was a bit oversized on me but still fit thankfully. Otherwise glad I purchased.
