The Sporty. Bikini is made from our PeriodTech® fabric - a super stretchy Nylon and Spandex knit that moves with you. As always, the gusset is made with organic cotton.

How to take care of your Period.

Rinse any fresh blood off in the sink or the shower.

Hang to dry then add to your laundry pile. 

Machine wash warm, no bleach.

Tumble dry low. Do not dry clean or iron. 

Each pair of Period. underwear can hold up to 10 tbls, or 8-10 tampons, worth of blood.

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

    Comfy and mostly effective but not my first choice for HEAVY days

    I’ve used these for a few years now and I find them very stretchy and comfortable. I’m a more athletic girl (5’5”, 155lbs) with muscular thighs and find the medium to be just right. These cover the butt cheeks a tad more than the microfiber for medium flow, which are also very soft and comfy, but I prefer the extra stretch of this material.

    I love wearing them when I’m at home and as backup for overnight on my heavy days, and primary coverage on lighter days. My heavy flow days are like going through a super plus tampon every 2-3 hours, and I need a pad for backup, so I find that I can’t go more than 2 hours (max 3) before I start leaking through the sides of the bottom of these undies. Because of that, these are not practical for me for when I’m out and about because I don’t trust that I won’t leak through (which has happened).

    I also find them a bit bulky in the seat/butt area so unless I’m wearing thicker pants like jeans, you can see a bulge which makes me very uncomfortable. I honestly feel way more cute and protected wearing a pad (and I love the organic brand Cora, by the way!)… but again those are on the heavy days and when I’m not at home. These are a good option for being at home and overnight. (Extra tip for overnights: I found a cute waterproof baby changing pad/sheet that I put down over my sheets so if I do leak, it’s on the changing pad and much easier to wash.)
