1 pair absorbs 9 tampons of flow
Absorbs 9 tampons worth of flow or five pads. Perfect for super heavy days.

Hi, I’m the Heavy High Waisted with an Extended Gusset. If I could, I would have called myself The Heavy Heavy High Waisted. I’m the exact same style as your favorite Heavy High Waisted Period. but with one big difference - I have an extended absorbent gusset that goes all the way from the top of the front to the top of the back. In other words, my absorbent panel is maxed out to as far as you can take it, so you can have even more confidence in going leak-free. I’m perfect for those first few heavy days when you might be back-flowing, front-flowing, or everywhere-flowing. It’s okay. We’ve all been there. I’m super soft, made of comfy cotton, and here to give you the super safe feeling that we all want on our heavy days.

When to wear: on those days when you need all out protection.

Trying to do period math? Click here to work out how many pairs you need for your period according to your Flow Threshold.

This style is intended for postpartum use and is very supportive in the lower abdomen area. if you want a more relaxed fit, we recommend sizing up.

You can see our size chart here.

Our Fabrics

Body: 95% Organic Cotton with 5% Spandex Jersey

Absorbent Layer: 100% Polyester

Leak Resistant Layer: 100% Polyester PUL

How to take care of your Period.

Either hand wash and hang dry, or add to the laundry pile.

Regular wash, no bleach.

Tumble dry low or hang dry.

Do not dry clean.

Each pair of Period. underwear can hold up to 9 tampons worth of blood.

Check out our absorbency test video here.

You can see the length of the absorbent panel here.

How long will one pair of Period. last?

Everybody periods differently so it’s tough to be exact. Our average time is about 8 hours on a heavier flow day. Though some customers need to change after 3 to 4 hours, and others can go up to 14 hours (lucky them!). As your period gets lighter, one pair can take you through the day and night (just like regular underwear). But again, everybody Periods differently, so you need to take one cycle to figure out exactly how often you need to change. Start with a conservative estimate on your heavy days, and check in on your Period underwear after 4 hours. If you still feel good, give it another hour. Keep going until you figure out your limit. Here at Period, we find we need between 3 to 4 pairs on the first two heavy days, including evenings. And if you leak, please forgive us! Just this once. (Remember how many tampons you have forgiven). Treat the ‘leak’ as a gift and note the hour of your leakage. That is the best indicator of your ‘flow threshold’ how long the underwear will last for you.

Message from a Coral Reef: Hi! Thank you for using non disposable products. It may feel like a small gesture - but it’s not. I’m sick of getting tampons and pads getting caught up in my beautiful branches and you’re helping to keep that trash out of my home. Just one pair of Period means that 5 pads/9 tampons are never used or thrown away. Thank you! Next time you swim by me, stop and say hi.

    Absolutely Massive.

These seem well made, however the size chart seems off. I ordered these in the recommended 2xl (I usually wear a 16/18 pant) and they are huge, like comically large. I opened the other pair I ordered just to make sure I didn't received a mislabeled pair. Definitely should have sized down. The leg openings are also entirely too high cut and "open" creating gaps around the hip and inner thigh area, not good if you are looking for something to stop leaks. I tried them on over standard Gap bikinis and my regular underwear provided more coverage in the front than these did. The cut gives big 1980s swimsuit vibes, just a strange fit for a period product. As per their return policy, I don't even think I can exchange them since I opened them, like how are you suppose to know if they fit if you don't take them out of the package? Overall they seem nice, be aware of the sizing! Ink pen for scale.

    Good fit!

Great absorption and actually easy to wash (they don’t stain and no smell after washes how it can be with some other brands). Perfect fit, I order size down usually to get snug fit. They do shrink if you wash them and put in the dryer on hotter temperatures, but that’s what I needed. Love it!

Huge jump in size from L to XL

While I will say I love the extra coverage of the rear liner on these the size jump from L to XL is crazy. I previously purchased L but after gaining 20lbs they were snug so this order I sized up to the XL and they are literally hanging off around the crotch and leg holes. I have used only this brand for the last few years and normally I love it but it was super disappointing to order the next size up only to find out it is so much bigger

    My Fault

These fit well, but I did not like the coverage style. I will reorder the same size but in a lighter coverage in hopes that it feels a little better.

    I’ll purchase more

This was my first ever period underwear purchase so I only bought 2. I’m impressed with how protective and thick they are. On my heavy days, it lasted me ~5-6hrs, but on my lighter days I could wear it from half a day to an entire day. My only complaint is that it’s so thick to where the outline shows through tight/thin clothing. So I’ll have to stick to sweats and jeans with these.
